Game-5040/hackintosh-hp-8f06-macos26 92620db (commit): the HP Omen 16 (board 8F06, Ryzen 9 9955HX, MT7925 Wi-Fi and Bluetooth) guide moved to macOS 26.7.2 (25G332). It now runs MtkWlan 0.12.1, MtkWlanNative 0.4.14, MtkBt 0.2.4 and LegionBtFix 0.3.0, and marks Wi-Fi and Bluetooth working. The guide names and links our repositories (mt7925-hackintosh-wifi, -wifi-native, -bluetooth, LegionBtFix), so credit is fine. High confidence.
What it says about our kexts:
- On 26.7.2 you need MtkWlanNative 0.4.14 or later and LegionBtFix 0.3.0 or later. With older builds the native front
end refuses to load (Wi-Fi falls back to the Ethernet port, with no menu) and
bluetoothdkeeps crashing with SIGABRT. This matches our release notes. - It explains LegionBtFix correctly: 0.2.0 checked
bluetoothdpages by SHA-1 (25G241 only), and 0.3.0 matches instruction windows (25G241 and 25G332). - Two lines in their guide are now stale. The section on the version requirement still says MtkWlanNative "only
supports 26.7.1 build 25G241" and names MtkWlan 0.11.3. Their pitfall table still says
setCOUNTRY_CODEis "only logged", which leaves the region at XZ and DFS channels passive-scan only. MtkWlanNative 0.4.13 passes the country code to the core (MtkWlan 0.12.1set_country). Whether the reported code is still XZ on their machine is not stated. Our own wifi-native README also still says "Country Code is reported as XZ"; we should check which is true on 0.4.14. - The Instant Hotspot (iPhone) entry in the Wi-Fi menu does nothing, because it uses AWDL. Their workaround is to join the hotspot manually as a normal network. This tip is worth adding to our known-limitations text.
Of the five new pitfalls, none is a bug in our kexts. The others are NVIDIA HiDPI modes, boot-args needing
NVRAM > Delete, shutdown turning into a restart until external USB devices are unplugged (still being investigated
there), and icon ghosting with the glass icon style. The shutdown one deserves a watch, because our I-081 restart and
power-off quiesce work is in the same area, but they tie it to external USB devices. Medium confidence that it is
unrelated to MtkBt or MtkWlan.
