Stock 2.3.7: a scaled display mode does not stick (reverts within 10 s) #5

Switching the internal panel from 1280x800 HiDPI to 1440x900 HiDPI with CGConfigureDisplayWithDisplayMode returns success, but 10 s later the panel is back at 1280x800 HiDPI.

This is upstream #221: desktop scaling is only accepted at the head viewport with PR 273, which NullMoth has not merged. The fork carries PR 273 (d1abf3f, kept on nvgfx-2.3.7) and kept scaled modes on 2.3.5 (N-132). Pass B of the feature test checks it on 2.3.7.

Probe: native/tools/featuretest/probes/display.swift setmode. Tested on RTX 5070 Laptop (GB206, 10DE:2D18), Lenovo Legion 5 15IAX10, macOS 26.7.1 (25G241). Evidence: project-legion evidence/native/featuretest-2026-10-18/A/disp.setmode.txt.

Fork 2.3.7-nvgfx.1 (PR 273 viewport patch): the mode switch holds (1680x1050 HiDPI -> 1280x800 HiDPI held 10 s, then restored). Stock 2.3.7 still reverts. Open until PR 273 lands upstream.

Upstream scout, 2026-10-22: NullMoth 2.5.1 moved scaled modes to the head scaler (upstream #273), which replaces the older code the fork carries. It comes with the planned port to 2.5.x. Upstream #341 (HiDPI only at exactly half native) is still open there.
